| Chicago Art Glass & Jewels has found a powerful
niche for itself in producing (and reproducing) the kinds of classical glasses found in
the most treasured of art glass creations from the turn of the century and early twentieth
century glass artists and studios. Well known for their Tiffany styled hand rolled
varieties of flat glass, Chicago Art Glass builds on that reputation with glasses that
match the beauty and quality of those used in works by Frank Lloyd Wright, and cast glass
items, such as tiles, jewels, pinchbacks, scarabs, icebergs, and turtle backs. Operating in Plymouth, Wisconsin (moved to Cedar Grove, WI May '98) under the
supervision of Ray & Debra Selk, Chicago Art Glass & Jewels has put together a
class repertoire of over one-hundred and sixty color combinations including opals,
mottles, granites, and rippled textures. Their lusters and iridescent glasses enhance
their working stock. Chicago Art Glass & Jewels can reproduce some of the more obscure
drapery and herringbone surface textures. Recently, the company has put great emphasis on
their Tile-Glas, a form of glass mosaic that can be used in residential and commercial
tile installations.
Chicago Art Glass & Jewels produces about thirty six thousand
square feet of glass and tile per month and can work with custom requirements if needed.
Their selection of tiles, jewels, and glass accent materials is the most extensive in the
industry. Any glass worker, artist or enthusiast would do well to explore the aesthetic
possibilities that these elements represent.
